BS5837 Tree Survey and Report Arboricultural Impact Assessment and Method Statement, Merton

This project, in the London Borough of Merton, is a good example of the work we do as Arboricultural Supervisor.

In this instance we had  been involved from the start, producing a BS5837 Tree Survey and report followed by an Arboricultural Impact Assessment and an Arboricultural Method Statement.

This gives a complete guide on the condition of the trees on the site, what needed to be done to maintain them during the building works and the way in which that protection needed to be delivered.

The job of Arboricultural Supervisor is to make sure the contactors on site are aware of and following the recommendations and methods described. We also need to make sure our recommendations are suitable for purpose in the real world of the construction site.

At this site there was some construction work within the root protection area (RPA) of some retained trees, which required piled foundations to protect the roots.

Additionally, there were a number of trees around the front and rear gardens which required temporary Heras fencing to prevent them being damaged during the construction process.

Happy to report that everything was in order on site; we took a series of photographs to go into a brief report to submit to the tree officer.  The next site visit is due in April.
